Trust. Is it holding you back?  Or is it protecting you ? Sometimes you have to let your guard down. To see what might be, or what could be. Even a sociopath has to show his or her belly from time to time. To know what is real and what is fake.

I'll show you mine if you show me yours. You go first though. :D

I can think of a few other ways to test reality. That said, it benefits me to let my guard down often. In a variety of situations, being and / or seeming vulnerable is the easiest way to have my needs met.

I have used that tactic in the past.

Lack of trust is what keeps me alert. It doesn't stop me from taking certain risks, but it does make me more cautious when those risks involve a partner.

For example: I have less issues committing a crime on my own then I would if I worked with a partner who could betray me in some way.

There are so many things to consider when partnering with someone. Are they who or what they claim to be? Will they turn on me in certain situations or under certain conditions?

How can you ever really guarantee someone's trust and loyalty?

The main reason I have issues trusting people is because those I should have been able to trust, when I was young, weren't the role models they were supposed to be, and that has influenced how I view everyone else.

Ty. Now that is a reason I can understand, and I can relate to.

Trust to me is typically just pre-expectation based on factors of who they are. Instead of trusting them, I trust their likelihoods, displays, and habits.

Easier to trust prior results and patterns than to trust someone's word.

Trust: The challenge is learning the difference between your intuitive voice and the sometimes louder voice of fear. Fear and intuition are two different things. Fear tells you what you don’t want to know. Intuition tells you the truth. Intuition is real and always authentic. Your fear can be real sometimes but often, it can be a fantasy or an illusion.
