Childhood Smiles

As a kid I dreaded pictures.

Everytime I was asked to smile it was just awkward and still is. I could never smile on command, I had to be legitimately happy to smile, I just couldn't fake it. Eventually I created this smirk that seems to satisfy everyone, I've often been told I make the same face in every picture. I still make the same smirk to this day, its actually quite humorous when you look at it. Im guessing some of you have experience or maybe some insights about this.

I typically smile when I'm humored by something. Otherwise pictures are just boring tedious things.

My school was a performing arts one, which taught us fairly early and fairly well how to fake how we need to appear. I could smile easily, but rarely genuinely.

It's sort of weird to look at those photos nowadays.

I can fake smile quite easily. It's fake laughter I have issue with and not because it's hard to do. Faking laughter is easy enough to do, but it's somewhat annoying.

I only do it to blend it. Though, not always. There are times where I really can't be fucked faking laughter, especially if I'm only with my family. People have told me that I'm too serious and don't have a sense of humor, but I do genuinely laugh at things occasionally.

Smiles no no no I do not do smiles! I grin and that bothers people, so I just use an ambiguous smirk to be polite.

I agree.

Another thing I run into is that people will often go out of their way to ask me "whats wrong" or "are you okay" when I'm just thinking. It bothers me, I've assumed it's because of the blank expression I've been told I carry around.

People also tend to think I'm pissed or angry with them, this is probably just them projecting their insecurities but nevertheless, it's still annoying.

I have that dead-eyed look.

The Asperger people have that problem. It is all caused by low self-awareness.

Think about something happy and it's easier to make the smile show in your eyes.

I have a smirk too. The right side of my mouth smiles more than the left and I tilt my head to the left to compensate. There's no deep meaning behind it, I just like doing it.

A probable possibility.
