Idea of the month: Reddit upvote/downvote requests

Hi everyone,

I'm sure all of you have heard of Reddit. It's a website where users can submit links about things they think are cool around the internet. Users can then choose to upvote or downvote the links. Links that get a lot of upvotes in a short amount of time can make it to the first page where they will recieve thousands of views.

I'd like to introduce the idea of including a tool which will allow the users of this forum software to request that certain Reddit posts be upvoted or downvoted. We could also include a sort of reward system for people who contribute. Perhaps you would need fulfill a certain number of Upvote/Downvote requests in order to submit a request yourself.

By using this system, members would find themselves better able to get their submissions to the top of Reddit, or push submissions we don't like down and out of the global spotlight.

This system could proove quite powerful, and valuble even. This system would use real users for the up/downvotes, so the risk of being caught would be extremely low. Most upvote/downvote farms charge about $1.00 USD per vote, so the value this tool could have could be substancial provided a good number of users use it. We would need to make sure it's extremely fast and easy to use to encourage participation.

I'm not sure how the system might work yet, but I'm eager to hear yall's thoughts on the idea.

Love,

Luna

I don't follow, are you talking about adding the Reddit vote system on this forum? If so, puppets will stack the results and only the worst topics/content/whatever will be at the top.

Or are you meaning you want to have this forum collaborate with Reddit? If so, what "certain Reddit posts"?

Edit:
With the addition of the vote farming bit, it sounds like the latter. How would it be any different or better than someone posting a topic of a Reddit post and asking for votes?

$1/vote? Seriously? Let's write a bot to do this and make a shitload of money.

It's certainly an idea. For example, the users of this website could make money even. Say we made a website selling votes, and charge 60 cents per vote. That's enough to undercut the competition.

Then we pay you guys 40 cents per vote. It doesn't sound like much, but we could set it up to make it really easy for you guys so you can vote for things quite fast. I just wonder how long it would take before your Reddit IP / Account gets banned.

It is basicly that.. people requests votes. The difference between someone begging for votes and the system I describe is that the people who give you votes get something in return.

I'm trying to put together a design now to see what it might look like. I'll post it once I finish.

You might also notice that the main thread list has a "general" and "advice" area in the design

I like this idea. I like the idea of making money doing it especially.
