I've got issues focusing and paying attention, so I can connect with alot of what he's saying. Especially becoming obsessed with a thing and persuing it. In fact, its been the only way I've learned so much as I have about languages and history and such.

ADHD is like Autism. Yes it means you are different. You are what people call: 'special'.

You wouldn't have noticed it, but the people in your life constantly make special concessions for you. They do this because it is socially inappropriate to actually inform you about your own dysfunctional mind.

Thrill Kill is a great example societies concessions. Though I love Thrill Kill to bits, Thrill Kill is obsessed with the socially inappropriate topic of murder. In addition to constantly telegraphing a violent preoccupation, a younger and more naive Thrill Kill would have tried to talk about this interest with other people. Some equally dysfunctional individuals (such as myself) would relate to the conversation and actually enjoy the interaction. However the response of most other people would not be so favourable, ranging from visible disgust and rejection to a stretched attempts to relate to what Thrill Kill was saying.

On the other hand, ADHD (severely diminished attention span) requires only minor concession. The people around you need only avoid open discussion about your limited potential for personal and professional development, and not invite you to places and events where your ADHD will make you unwelcome. Though likely only minor, your special treatment is indeed present.

( Sorry Thrill Kill, I do not mean to suggest you have been that unsubtle, I am just using your obvious dysfunction to construct an easily understood example).

I don't have ADHD, I just have the lack of focus and attention at times. Though its more due to my getting bored easily or due to lack of engagement or distractability, and not reall a disiordered trait nor to disordered extremee.s

I've only ever discussed murder with people online. I don't discuss it off the net with anyone. Even when I was younger, I knew better than to bring the topic up in real life.

I've noticed that it's a taboo topic even on forums that you wouldn't expect it to be taboo on, such as serial killer discussion and crime news forums. Everybody likes talking about those who've been caught, but hardly anybody is willing to discuss murder when it's a personal interest. And I understand why that is, but it's frustrating for me when hardly anyone can relate.

Go on a crime writing blog. You can discuss murder all you want.
