This is another error we often make in our culture. It is the concept of "I do not believe this is right, therefore they should not". Take other cultures or time periods for example. At some point in the past it was perfectly acceptable to own a slave. Now it is shunned. In other countries it is perfectly acceptable to stone a woman to death because of something we she did to offend the koran, here that is crazy...

My point is, there is no such thing as a moral absolute. They change through cultures. By time and location. This is no different.

We think on some level that a victim should not want to be a victim. But I know from personal experience that some people would choose to be a victim, over being left alone and who are we to judge them for that choice? Who are we to judge those that would choose to stay in a situation which we find terrible, if it is their choice? America has tried to westernize the world, and this has spawned many wars... it is a quiet form of conquest... but it is just that. The infection of our ideals on those of a different culture.

There are many taboo cultures that are shunned. But this all goes back to human nature. There is a reason subcultures like bdsm exist... there is a reason some people ache to be abused... it's because it is natural and it fills a void for them.

 

The human nature is NOT 100% rational. Not even close.

There is absolutly no doubt about that fact.

There a tons of empirical scientific research available to proof this statement.

Just take Cialdinis research for example. (because we are talking about "maniplulation")

People are 100% egoistic animals in my opinion. You can show that by the looking at the Empathy-Altruism Hypothesis.

We tend to like people who are similar to us. If we share the same genes we tend to be more similar to each other.

This explains why we tend to like our family members more then strangers.

If we behave in an altruistic way among family members we increase the likelihood of their genes (they are also our genes) to be given to a potential next generation.

So behaving in an altruistic way was an advantage in evolution.

So it is egoistic in from my point of view.

Genes that "coded" empathy in people were fitter than other genes and survived.

When i see someone feeling pain i also feel a feeling of pain or sickness,

My brain gets activated where pain processing is located. Not as strong as the person with the "real" pain, but i feel it.  Does not feel good.

If you do not know what im talking about with this pain stuff, you might be a real psychopath.

This pain keeps us from hurting people in many ways. I dont want to feel it, but i cant help it.

Maybe im one of these thin skined narcissists the other guy was talking about...

I don't know if you're dex, but I'm sure I could teach you a few tricks anyway.

 Dont want to come to close to you but would explain me what you are doing to your "victims".

Are exploting them in a financial, sexual, emotional or other way?

It is really out of curiosity that i want to know it what and why you do it to your victims.
