So, I'm well aware that I'm late to the party. I picked up "Confessions" yesterday, and was thoroughly engrossed. I've got a small snatch left but I have thoroughly enjoyed the book.
This all aside, it took me about fifteen minutes to actually find ME Thomas' real identity, on my own route (I only discovered the Dr. Phil debacle when I had her name to confirm). I also, uselessly enough, found out where she lived in 2008. In simple terms, a WHOIS led to an old GMail account which led to an intellectual property thesis by J LUND. The rest was simple. Another WHOIS from a second source revealed her whole name directly
Am I the only one who feels a little disappointed by this oversight from Jamie? One might blame her self-professed fanaticism and one-mindedness, but this was a fairly rookie error which speaks of a fundamental lack of understanding when it comes to the internet world. I guess I was just expecting... more? I don't know.
I'm not really putting her intelligence into question. I'm just wondering if anyone else felt that the sport was a little lacking? For someone who seemed very keen to keep their identity hidden--and someone who also would have known that many people out there would take that as a personal challenge--it just seems... clumsy.
Disclaimer: I'm not a sociopath, at least not in the normal sense. I seem to exist in a social autopilot-state in my interactions, slipping only into a more sociopathic mindset when I become more present. This is not a challenge or an attack, just a simple question.
