i agree with luna, but national pride events do have a fair amount of indoctrination and brainwashing to some extent. look at the pledge of allegiance. totally brainwasing type stuff in there. but that is not the sole purpose. the pledge and other national holidays and pride are to also make people want to turn stuff around and make their country a better place. although america needs one hell of a makeover
I don't think the rest of the world hates us.
Let's look at the world.. you Europe who aren't worried about USA. They are in a state of financial crisis. Germany is running the European Union, and there are disagreements between them, and the southern states like Italy.
Then in asia you have basicly all American allies and China, a key trading partner.
Then you have the middle east. Where the education system is just getting off the ground. Half the alquaida are only in it becasue it pays better than if they farm the land.
And then you have South America which I know nothing about lol
I'd say USA isn't doing bad!
I wouldn't say USA is hated, but the rest of the world is a little tired of all your escapees and somewhat arrogant manner of behaving.
By the way, the numbered links at the bottom of a thread that are supposed to take you between pages doesn't work. And, also, I see the time displayed by the forum is not local to the user. That may create some confusion.
If you mean the government's international policy, there are two strong arguments. 1 is that we as a nation have a responsiblity to help those who can't help themselves.
The other is that capitalism isn't perfect, and we haven't yet created a system that's ideal to the values humanity has today. But we're working on it, just like the entire world is. It's not just an American problem. In fact, if you look at corruption thoughout the world, I would say America has the least. It's our copyright laws that keeps intellectual property with value. China doesn't respect it at all and look.. no intellectual property comes out of China! Just production
Acting world police is not a responsibility, it's something the US has decided to do by themselves.
I wasn't talking about capitalism, because that's a global system. American arrogance is more of an intangible feeling than anything concrete, and is based on things such as you flaunting your national pride in every other Hollywood flick etc.
Perhaps you can consider what the world would be like if America never stepped in. There are some in politics who say let the world burn. We should only look out for our nation. The others say no, we should show our humanity and stop the slaughter.
It's Hollywood, an American city. Just becasue our movies are shown world wide, we should censor our national pride in them?
