I see no need to test.. he explains himself quite well without any prompting. Here is my theory on him. 

There are 2 reasonable possibilities.

1. He is a fucking idiot.

2. The large amount of posts is something he is trying very hard to do. When there are newcomers they will look and see his absurd amount of posts and assume him as a "vet". Also,  his avatar depicts an older individual. Which for individuals with a weaker sense of self may feel that he deserves respect off of that alone. He continuously acts as witty as possible because he desires either positive or negative attention. Positive attention boosts his ego. While negative attention allows him to show off his wits with "clever insults."
