Here's how the story goes. The serpent had just suggested that Eve eat the Forbidden Fruit, and she replied that God told them not to because eating it would bring about their fall. The cunning serpent said, "God told you THAT?". Slick, eh?

Notice that the "innocent" people he fooled ain't innocent. They committed the Original Sin, believing an obvious lie just because it was juicy. Like Eve.

It flew in the face of reason for her to think God might be lying. He was her creator. He provided everything for her and Adam. Which means that he had proved he wanted what was good them. He denied them but one thing, telling them that it was for their own good. So, what was she thinking? She had every good reason to believe that he was telling the truth.

Moreover, what credibility is there in a stranger who slithers up to you like a sidewinder? Why not doubt the serpent — someone she had no reason to trust?Bottom Line: God has high credibility; serpent has about zero credibility. So, Eve wasn't honestly fooled: she just liked serpent's version of the world better, because it made her able to be as God.

Narcissists and political character assassins are dangerous precisely because people do this. If, say, you have known someone for 10 years, you know a lot about him. Doubtless, you have seen his honesty tested and seen that he proved to be an honest man. So, nobody should be able to slither up to you tomorrow and tell you he's dishonest. If you buy that, you are betraying that honest man. To believe that lie, you must annihilate history and 10 years of evidence to the contrary. You are not innocent.

I'm sure that people who do this think they're clever, but it's childsplay. Send a muddy child into an unsupervised schoolyard and wait to see what happens. He will rub himself off on every cleaner, smaller child he can find, until they are all crying and he looks good by comparison.Looks good by comparison. Those are the all-important words. The hypocrite makes himself look good by comparison with others. He does that the easy way — by smearing himself off on others to make them look bad. This is the root of envy. Which is NOT a rare motive for what people say about others. It's an all-too-common motive.

And this is why I find it hard to see my fiance in any bad ways, to be honest. People project, people get envy, people interpret things. What ever you take out of context and put in a hand of a stranger, they will interpret it and they will react.

Although.

Many of the women who love psychopaths intuitively know that they’re dealing with a sick man. Yet they feel like they have invested far too much for far too long into the relationship to give up on him. Their self-confidence and sense of reality have been severely undermined. They may tell themselves, hoping against hope, that their love and patience will fix the dangerous man. Or that after spending fifteen years with him, they can’t throw away the entirety of their youth, as if those years together were all for nothing.

However, the damage seems to get worse from the time you realize you’re with a psychopath or disordered man and come to accept his abuse: the pathological lying, the gaslighting, the cheating, the putdowns, the threats and the relentless chipping away at your self-esteem. Women who stay with known psychopaths, or with men they know to be very bad, adapt to increasing dosages of harm. This can severely damage their own personalities and the way they interact with others, sometimes beyond repair.

Together with.

The cycle of abuse is confusing, overwhelming and unpredictable.  Unless you are a highly trained professional in the ways of manipulative behavior, you will never break down the victimology of abuse.  Most women can spend a lifetime thinking he’ll change, only to give away the best years of their lives. Survival becomes the primary motivating factor when you live in an abusive situation, especially when you have children in the mix.  Although I wanted to help him, and tried, many times, the truth is that nothing I could, or would do, was enough to make him change.

It makes me wonder in the end of the day.

Interesting. What about those of us who call people on their shit? Seriously. I would far prefer to be alone than with someone who treats me badly.

I would rather have love than passion any day. I am just curious as to what your take is on that.

The serpent encouraged her to taste the knowledge of good and evil.

These days the devil is called Lucifer - bearer of light. Angelic whistleblower.

According to the story there were some innocent primates in a garden and they ate a fruit that gave them the minds of men. A patriarchal, self admitted "jealous god" got mad. The snake isn't the socio, he just offered them a choice. The god is the socio for punishing his "property" for not doing what he wanted.

If you'd rather stay safe in the garden that's up to you but no need to slander the serpent.

Sometimes the good comes with the bad. It's not just black and white.

I'd rather have passionate love than being alone.

It's healthy to question things. I'm just not sure about what's true or not.

What if the snake used them to get at God?

What of it?

Serpent said fruit would give knowledge of good and evil. Serpent told the truth. When Eve got caught she said the serpent deceived her. But the fruit did exactly what the serpent said it would.

God was just being salty about it.

The serpent told eve that eating from the tree of knowledge would not cause her to die.

The fruit didn't kill her. God chose to make her mortal. God could have chosen differently.

Is the serpent his brother's keeper?

Apparently it did kill her.
