Fire in the Sky

For the past year, I spent a good amount of time examining the sky. Comets, meteors, Asteroids. It's not that I've had a deep interest in these things by default, but rather I've been captivated by them through the moderate old and new media.

February 15, 2013. Chelyabinsk Russia witnessed a meteor in broad daylight. For a moment it was brighter than the sun. I hear different reports on how fast she was, one source clocked it at 30 miles per second. 3 minutes after it's pass, then came the sonic boom. The shockwave was so powerful it damaged doors and windows and injured 1500 civilians.

(Excuse the video. Around 3:25 it becomes useless.)

There has been a rise in meteor activity that has been going on, which came shortly after the discovery of Comet C/2012 S1,  commonly known as Comet ISON.

This one has been labeled "the comet of the century". And why ? It "was" suppose to be the most brilliant comet we've witnessed in our time. One news report suggested it was suppose to appear 15 times brighter than the moon after she slingshots around the sun and makes it's second pass over the Earth's Northern Hemisphere. So what happened ?

There she is, ISON. Twin tails.

Comets are said to be unpredictable, and ISON sure was. This one is what they call a sun grazer, and it's the first one like this we've witnessed.

On it's way to the Sun, 2 interesting things happened. Jupiter has 63 moons. One of it's 4 large moons for the first time in history, we've recorded it having a violent volcanic eruption with a 30 kilometer blast radius when ISON was making it's pass, as seen in the below image.

A diagram of ISON's orbit. Despite how it flew through the Asteroid belt, we're seeing a rise in meteor's and objects burning in the atmosphere. Earth will fly in between ISONs path. Might that be a good thing ?

Mars....

ISON missed Mars by 0.7 AU, or 60-64 million miles. The Mars orbiter took images of ISON on September 29th 2013. The images are so uninteresting, I won't even bother posting them. A day later on October 1, 2013, ISON passes MARS. NASA says nothing, and astronomers around the world are reporting how Mars has developed what appears to be a green coma. I've yet to see NASA even try to debunk this.... Maybe it's due to Government shutdown ? Who knows, at least some of NASA is talking, but why does NASA not show any images of ISON crossing Mars, while professional astronomers are going nuts over what ISON did to Mars ?

Shortly back on planet Earth. Chinese troops land on American soil, for collaborative rescue drill training for natural disasters. Coincidence ? Probably not. Also, I don't think NASA is touching what happened to Mars, at least, not making it public. On another note, Obama has been pulling Military leaders, the kind who would never turn on their own country.

On November 29th 2013 ISON made it's perihelion around the Sun.

Wow compared to the size of the Sun look at the length of that tail, AKA debris field.

The Comet seems to have fizzled away. Originally NASA reported it's destruction. As it turns out, they changed their mind saying how part of ISON's nucleus survived. Other astronomers suggested this before them which is interesting.

Why am I writing about this ? At least it's fun.

As some of you know, I've experimented with my new acquaintance Molly. Though I don't plan on visiting her again, I've been having these reoccurring nightmares of fire in the sky, and fragments of rock at various speeds shattering on the ground. They would start coming down, then stop, then from another direction. I dodged rocks coming at me like baseballs, I saw really large boulders the size of sky scrapers and roundish, just rolling along the city blocks. I can honestly say, when one thinks they are about to die such a death, it's a little scary, and there is at least a bit of effort put into trying to stay alive when death is imminent. I don't suggest my dreams have any value in terms of what happens from here. But it was enough to motivate me to go back and share some data I've collected in regards to ISON.

It appears ISON got it's ass kicked by the sun. It's not glowing like it use to. As a matter of fact, no one can see it. What's clear is how ISON did make it's turn around the SUN before it vanished. That's not to say it isn't there. It could have been decimated into trillions of fragments, and though we cannot see them (maybe NASA can who knows), surely they are out there while the Earth continues to make it's pass.

Even if we had tiny fragments of stone or metal slow down and fall from the sky. It wouldn't be a good thing. It's been close to the Sun, and in that case the fragments will be so radioactive, it will make Uranium look like those candy bowls at the bank.

I think we had a short discussion about this on the chat. Well it was an interesting read even though I'm naturally skeptic about connections drawn between comets and planets. Not that I have any proof in the other direction. Maybe I'll look into it once I have a bit of time.
