Do any of you have pets?  How do you interact with them, if you do?

Personally, I am better able to associate with animals than humans.  Their behaviors are simpler and their motivations aren't as complex, so it's much easier to understand what's happening when I interact with them.  I have two cats, one of whom was abused as a kitten which makes her very distrustful and nervous.  The other is a year-old kitten who frustrates me routinely.  I have to struggle not to overreact when he disobeys since he is very different from the other cats I've had: very free with his claws and hyperactive.  I find myself having difficulty understanding his actions in the same way I have difficulty intuiting human motivations in most highly empathic people I know.

On the other hand, I had a calico who was probably as antisocial as I am.  I miss her horribly.  Living with her was like having a furry sister.  I've never known a cat so talented at social manipulation.

I have low frustration tolerance. Pets always end up irritating me in one way or another, which usually results in me abusing and/or killing them.

The main reason I don't like owning them though is because I hate the responsibility that's required to look after them.

Basenjis are a stubborn breed, but have always proved worth the effort. My sensitivity to body language has animals generally like me.

I have a pet and I like him a lot.

He is very cute and does cute things and I give him treats.

He seems to like me too but it might just be because I give him treats.

I have tons of pets. Only  one of my snakes bite. He escaped from his cage, though and committed suicide!

Do you take him for walks, too?  Sometimes they like that.

No he doesn't like walking.  He prefers to hop and/or scamper.  Sometimes I let him run around in the back yard.  He sometimes scampers but usually he just sits under a bush.

He's really cute even if sometimes he leaves his fluff all over the grass.
