LOL you make my brain hurt and you're talking about a lot of things.

“The most prominent issue is over the insurance requirement of paying for birth control which some Christian businesses do not believe in.”

I think what you’re saying is Christian insurance companies may have to pay for things such as birth control? Is that the problem?

In Canada, abortion is legalized at the federal level and lies outside our provincial (state) laws, so all women have access to it. It’s a personal choice for individuals and is funded through the system.

If I understand what you’re saying in relation to the state/feds, the problem is that people want to impose their morality/beliefs on others through state laws.

My opinion is that the rights of many should never be denied to appease the beliefs of a few, and society evolves. Outdated religious beliefs have no place in determining state or federal laws.

Was the US constitution not founded on the separation of church and state?

1. The prominent court case is Hobby Lobby is a Christian Constitutional values based company. They do nit feel it is cinstitutional for the federal govt to require their business to pay for employees birth control when that is against the company owners reigioys beluefs. It is govt fircing them to fund private things that should be individual choice and freedom not required by govt and especially not federal govt.

2. State laws could potentially be passed if the people agree to a vote on issues such as health care, or abortion regulation, or marriage laws. But federal govt is technically and traditionally designed to stay out of these issues and reserve authority to the people or the states.

3. For separation of church and state, religious freedom started out as defending Christians from imposition by the state such as Jeffersons letter coining the phrase on behalf of Baptists facing regulation or restriction which Jefferson denounced on behalf of the Christian group. Also Wm Penn was acquitted of charges of preaching an illegal religion by a jury which threw out the local law and put religious freedom first.

However today the tables are turned where ppl of secular views are suing to stop christian and religious practices they argue are imposing religion thru public institutions. And when christians seek to defend their equal practice and access this is seen as threatening to influence govt while they see it as not being excluded by govt.

My argument is tobe fair and equally inclusive of all beliefs, then both sides should settle their disputes privately and keep both biases out of public policy. This would limit govt and laws to only the public policies where ppl agree, which is what the Constitution was supposed to limit govt to just the main functions and leave the rest to states and ppl to decide by local democratic provess.

Richard these are historical issues that have been fought since the foundation of america and never resolved. Yes it is a headache.

You are very sharp if you can follow how deep this goes. Most americans i know take one side and fight for that politically so it continues dividing the nation. It is a big mess.

Thank you for your patience in asking about this which is the key to americas future if we can address this huge "elephant in the room"

I like you and dont mean to tax you with this. I just wish all americans could get this instead of just taking sides and blaming the other views as wrong and targeting each other for bullying.

Thanks Richard i know america must look crazy for having religious freedom free speech and the internet and we cant get our shit straight. Thats why i turn to political satire cuz it is so insane.

Maybe when i give up i will flee to canada and become a northern mexican. Take care

Hey RP Apology 2 and 3

2. I reread that thread where I first criticized you I think circe's thread on casanova complex. With wilfuls posts deleted i cant see why I was jumping on you. It must have been mixed in with Shadows and Wilfuls posts, sorry about that. You seem to be harsh on the guys so maybe thats where i got the wrong impression.

3. Sorry about the long msg on church and state and federal vs state disputes. This is clearly not your problem if youre outside the us.. So its imposing on you to hear all this. Just ironic that ppl who do need to resolve it are too caught up in it to ask about it objectively.

Thanks we can drop this since it doesnt really apply to you

=======================================

REVISED:

RP after I read your story under "Responsibility" this thread is really moot.

There is no way the mental blocks that people have over political ideas in their heads compare to that.

There is nothing to complain about.

Your post makes me wish I could throw hearts or stars at it. There are no words.

You seem young to have gone through all that, and be talking about it so openly by this time.

My other friends who had rough run-ins with "karmic justice" are still coming to terms with it, still not fully open or accepting, and they are much older. I can't even imagine how you can even be functioning socially.

That Machine guy was going on and on about abuse he went through, half lucid half on meds. I usually expect people to still be resentful or have an edge about them. But yours barely shows. You seem so normal. ???

Anyway I said there were no words, but here I blabbered some anyway. Still trying to wrap my head around it.

I think you should write up your story and publish it or produce it as a short film of some sort.

Just the way you wrote it there was poetically stated. Nobody else I know is that open and at peace. How ???

Ha ha - no worries. I was being a dick. I'm like that. It's part of my charm.

And, I like talking politics and enjoy hearing about what's happening in the US so feel free to engage.  I'm often brain dead so it might take me a while to reply. ;)  Be patient with me, Em.

Even in my worst times, I never denied anything I did. So, on a superficial level, I took responsibility, but I also rationalized my violence as justice, so on a holistic level I didn’t. Back then, I felt invincible and I was an even bigger prick than I am today; I was also on drugs.

Eventually I saw that people who once liked me were scared of me. It took me awhile to understand they also despised me. I hurt some people badly, more than I should have, and people who cared about me hurt because I was so out of control. My armour began to crack from feelings of deep shame, but to deal I just did more drugs. lol

Then, I went overseas and got into a boatload of trouble. I got busted and ended up in an Indian prison. The guards tied me to a wall and beat the shit out of me for two days. I couldn’t fight back and I was coming off drugs. The indifference of the guards as they beat me for hours was dehumanizing and demeaning, plus it fucking hurt.

This time, the sickening smell of blood was my own and the thuds and cracks were the sounds of my body breaking from the blows. The only word I remember hearing was “please” and it came from inside my head. I heard that plea before from people I beat on.

At that point, I don’t know what was worse -- the pain of the beating or all the bottled up shame coming up at once. I finally took responsibility for everything I had done. And, it broke me.

Some people don’t have the luxury of a PD that allows them not to feel. Regardless, I think we all reap what we sow eventually. -- sorry for the long post.
