Why this either/or limitation?

You know there are ways to have both!

You can have unmoderated forum as traditional here, and then have filtered views for those who choose that.

Also, if you truly want no moderation ARE YOU WILLING TO DO ALL THE BLOCKING AND WORK TO REMOVE SPAM HACKERS and EXTORTIONISTS THAT COULD CRASH THE SITE? ARE YOU WILLLING TO PAY THE LEGAL FEES AND DAMAGES?
