"The Gunpowder treason and plot;"
I know of no reason why the gunpowder treason should ever be forgot.
Hi Free and Silkthread: yes, I had to go look this up. I knew very little about Guy Fawkes Day, now maybe this has more relevance to me. Some people do NOT get there is a split between Catholics and Protestants, but think all Christians are the same. This has been a divisive issue that got political.
Today I have trouble explaining to people arguing over the controversial ACA/Health care bill that has divided America by party. I find myself comparing to religious factions fighting for control of Congress/Parliament.
Similar to Shiites vs. Sunni or Catholic vs. Protestant. Instead of a religious difference that has become political. This is a political difference that has become religious. Yet we are supposed to keep religion out of govt.
So people think all politics is the same, just majority rule imposing one side or another etc.
But between the two parties with completely different beliefs, this is like religious factions.
So I wish more people could see "objectively"
It seems as long as these differences are blamed on "political party"
they think it is political and don't see any connection with religion.
But basically they are fighting one ideology and beliefs versus the other, trying to rule by majority force.
So what's the difference except in name only?
Thanks for posting this, and that's my perspective seeing where America is right now in going through
some more garbage on the learning curve. It's the same old mess, but different pile. When will we learn?
