 This doesn't make any sense. Shouldn't it be that her parents aren't in any position to call someone else's kid a mistake? It's not like she has control over whether or not she was aborted.

You are incorrect. The person has no control whether or not they were born to begin with. It again falls on the parents. Any person could be a mistake and not be aware of it.
