Sociopath Community

 Whether or not the Vatican was the center of the Renaissace is up for debate. The Italian states were undoubtedly the center as well as the original hotspot, but many other Italian states had a wealth of art. In fact, the Vatican usually was very strict on art practices, whereas in places like Venice, artists could thrive. In the Vatican, they had to work under the restrictions of the Cathlic church.

Of course, the Borgias in my opinion are even worse than the Medicis, and that is saying something. Medicis were like a puny street gang compared to the Borgias (Assassin's Creed 2 series goes into this), and the Medicis were much like a very, very powerful mafia family in Florence.

It may have been the center of Europe during that time at least, but not quite the world... It was the center of Catholicism at least and the seat of the Pope, but European kings tended to try and resist the Church's influence, especially in the North.

 I have been to Vatican city. The wealth was astounding. And yet people die of hunger.

I stared at the sistine chapel and thought about the line between the avarice and majesty.

Michaelangelo was touched on in the series.

 I much prefer da Vinci, pushing the boundaries of "God." Michelangelo is of note for his talent and controversial nude paintings. 

Avarice indeed, Catholic church leaders were corrupt motherfuckers, and many still are. Maybe Edvard can shine some light there.

I like the one that isn't with Jeremy Irons more, though that may seem odd since he's a great actor. And yes, I agree, this miniseries is a great depiction of narcs and socios.

BTW, I have a relative with your name. She spells it differently.

 I would not like the say that about them. Instead of labeling them, think of them like a mob family. They are basically raised a certain way, with enough wealth and influence to manipulate the system and other people. I know it is hard to refrain from labeling people on a site for "sociopaths" as a label itself, and I may in fact be on the wrong site if I want that, but I think it would be nice if we could simply refrain from such labels.
