another "mono" religion, full of "you HAVE to" and "don't question"
can be used for good, of course, but only by those who aren't keen on a more critical way of thinking
I would not recommend practicing or teaching Islam without the sense of forgiveness or "restorative justice" that is within Christian scripture, and/or without the principles of due process and other democratic principles within Constitutional laws.
Islam and other religions get out of hand quickly if either (a) the people are unforgiving and start projecting blame and issues on other people or groups (b) do not also practice equal respect for the religious freedom, due process, right to petition of other people and start becoming oppressive and abusive.
I would even urge the requirement that religious organization follow and teach Constitutional principles among their leaders, members or hierarchical structures, so that no collective organization or authority is ever abused to violate civil rights.
Not just for Islam, but Jehovah's Witness and other Christian denominations with records of religious abuse, would be better checked by enforcing the same Bill of Rights that the government has to follow and respect for individuals. If corporations and religious organizations had to respect these same rights in order to be licensed to operate by US laws, maybe we could check abuses of any collective group with greater authority or influence than individuals have. Otherwise these organizations claim individual rights and risk abusing power.
Heh, I wonder how followers of religion, espesially Islam, will react to the US government adding laws inside holy books...
Personally I think the only reason Islam is still being practiced is the full on indoctronation that is forced at a young age.
1. The govt can regulate licensing of organizations on thr outside in terms of civil and criminal laws. I would add constitutional laws to the list so this is external not part of the internal religion. Since any large collective body runs the same risk as govt of violating individual rights, the same billof rights could be required per entity.
2. As for internally, it doesnt have to become part of the religion.
Buddhism and constitutionalism recognize other religions without msking those part of their systems or laws. I find Christianity and Islam can do the same.
3. In particular with islam it is taufht that believers receive all sent by god, all prophets and laws like the torah and bible in addition to quran. The difference in interptetation is where traditional islam only recognizes jewish christian and muslim. Also ppl interpret christ differently. But unisersal type believers may include buddhism and constitutionalism as laws given by god.
So thrre is room to recognize natural laws in buddhism and constitutionalism within islam as given by god and to.be received and followed.
