do i know you? what right do you have to speak to your betters?
by Daddyit is true that there is no forest without the trees but to disregard all the other trees in the plight of understanding one is a failed experiment. you must have things to compare and contrast, you must have control groups to understand or even see an anomoly, You must understand the community and the environment of the subject in order to understand the subject. otherwise you will only see biased and subjective information.
as for the person i wanted to suffer number 1 i never said it was a girl... 2 i fail to see how that is related to this topic, feel free to enlighten me.
and controlling human urges is quite connected to understanding human nature. I am not a robot, i do have emotions desires etc, this is my plight, this is all our plight to deny that is ignorance. and the existance of thqt plight does not stop me from understanding my fellow man, if anything it helps me empathise with them on certain levels. it is part of the human experience... not just mine but all. because we ARE connected.
and being hyper focused doesnt make you more evolved... dogs fetching a ball can be hyper focused... what makes you more intellectual is understanding what motivates that dog to play fetch and obey you.
How high were you when you wrote this? You're reading too much into it Jay. Like that last sentence, as far as i'm concerned the dog enjoys playing with the alpha, it's a bond. I think you want there to be more behind it but there isn't...and this brings us back to the forest thing. I'm not trying to major in psychology and while I do find the human brain interesting, it's not something I'd shift my whole life for. Though that may change...I seem to switch gears a lot...speaking of gears I've had this rather peculiar interest with cars and engines lately....
first off, a trained dog doesnt fetch a ball just because its alpha throws it, there is usually operant conditioning where the dog is trained through a reward system. if a dog is properly trained it will want to fetch for anyone alpha or not...
and i'm not reading too much you're simply failing to see the bigger picture in how all of these systems are interconnected. you are simply doing what most lazy americans do and say, "i dont understand this and i'm getting along fine without it" but you are also failing to realise the richness that you can gain from that understanding.
You’re right, a trained dog programmed to fetch a ball does it in hopes of a reward. That’s the basic concept of how we live our lives. Not just animals. This “serve and reward†aspect has been around for centuries…and even today, but gratification is its own reward and it’s how most (if not all) humans live. With gratification you don’t need an outside reward, case in point my old dog. I never spent much time with her but when I played with her by throwing her chewing rope she loved to gallop over to it and return it to me. This wasn’t programmed, she simply felt the need for attention because she hardly received it from me. As you already know the psychological need for contact with another creature (human, animal, whatever) is almost required for a healthy life. When that contact is restrained or deprived for a period of time and then re-introduced again the bond is tighter than before because that part of them was missing. My old dog’s reward was her own gratification from interacting with me, that longing to play with me after so long it seems like she didn’t want to stop. This same ancient concept could easily be applied to any situation with any creature. Because I know this I don’t need to see the whole forest… I see the trees in front of me and I can assess that the rest of the trees are very much like the ones in front of my face.
I'm nothing like most Americans. I get it. I simply choose my own battles.
the fact that you can claim to be "nothing like most amercians" shows how shallow your perception is tom, you ARE an american... americans dominantly identify with individuality and being different, therefore if anything you are just like every other non conformist american...
You're a smart guy tom, but you are mistaken and misguided by your preconceived notions of how this world works.
How certain are you that I’m American, Jay? I have a very convincing Greek accent and am often mistaken as a tourist from the Mediterranean because of my lack of interest in modern day topics like sports and famous people. And most Americans don’t consider themselves as being individual from one another, most consider themselves “Average American Citizensâ€, I think you’re thinking about teenagers…but they think they’re special... I however would never consider myself average in ANYTHING, I’m much too hard on myself to believe I’m just average…I’m either good at it or not.
And thank you for the compliment Jay, but I’m not interested in how the world works…the ecosystem of the forest doesn’t interest me, just the targets I plan to harvest. I hate distractions, I just want to find the chase and cut to it.
...Really, you're arguing you're different because you're not interested in sports an famous people and have a "convincing greek accent"?
Dude... what the fuck?
i highly doubt "most concider themselves average american citizens", the thesis for our society is of individuality, concepts like freedom, liberty, capitalism... america is defined by it's "self" centered mentality.
But again, to be a good hunter... you need to understand your prey... and I highly doubt that you do.
i agree with op.
the more ppl discover forgiveness heals both mind and body, as well as external relations, there will be less fear and judgment going on, more sharing of information and solutions to work cooperatively on fixing problems instead of divisive blame,
and humanity will progress at an exponential rate toward peace through social reforms and sustainable growth and development to reduce ills and suffering.
agree that both secular and religious institutions will move this way in order to effectively solve social problems otherwise perpetuating disparity or poverty. we cannot afford for problems to cycle or escalate, so out of pure necessity we will learn to forgive so we can work together instead of dividing in conflict which wastes resources needed to correct past damages and quit creating more debts
