This is hilarious to me, because it is EXACTLY what I have going on in my mind a lot of the time: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YBqXPSAY8vY
Has sociopathy and humor been discussed and explored? Does a sense of humor require emotional context? Different strokes for different folks, for sure, but is there other dynamics at work? One might extend this toward the general act of artistic expression. Does it require a certain amount of empathy and emotion to write music? I would have to say boy bands are a cruel infliction upon the human race, if there can ever be a claim of sociopathic influence in the art world.
Adjacent to this, one of the hallmarks of the various autistic spectrum disorders is being too literal. Sarcasm and subtle cues of speech and behavior can go unnoticed by the autistic. I'm not sure if this really has an effect on having a sense of humor. I think a lot of things are funny and often find plenty of humor daily, which I think goes largely unappreciated. Perhaps it is a human auto-immune response to all the senseless stupidity one runs into daily. If none of it can be laughed at, I suppose it really is a sad situation out there.
