Did you two have an actual long-distance relationship? Do you still communicate? 

 Yes we did. We wrote each other every week for nearly a year. And no, we do not communicate any longer. 

 Are you on amicable terms?

 Yes, of course. None of my exes are enemies. My brain doesn't work another way.

 It's odd how even a rainbow blurred picture of someone can change you perception of them.

 I came along just after the new board went up. That avatar you had said GAY to me. I heard and thought of you through that filter. Even after some of my slowness dissipated and I realized your were female, I still had some of that filter left. It stuck, I couldn't shake it.  You put up the new picture and it was instantly gone. My perception of your tone and attitude changed with it. Even the sound of your voice in my imagination changed. Hard to explain unless you were in here with me.

 It was a good cover. I couldn't remove it.

 that's a brilliant technique yes. i like to do that whilst keeping a completely straight face, looking the person in the eye.
