Oh luna... So young, so idealistic, so naive... so little knowledge of the world...
1. I train because it is part of my job to do so, physical fitness is litterally a requirement for my job.
2. People are judged by their appearance. Appearance has a very powerful impact on the way people behave toward us (regardless of whether or not it should) This is even more so true for leaders in military and jobs that require physical dominance.
Appearance is the first thing someone sees in a person, it is often coorilated with their first impressions. For instance when someone sees you the first thing they probably think is (she's a cute kid) you instantly lose credit regardless of how smart you may be people aren't going to take you seriously. When people look at me, they see someone intimidating, someone powerful, someone not to fuck with, someone worthy of respect.
While it is true that your body is a vehicle for your mind, it is much more than that. It is the first thing someone sees when they interact with you. It is the first indicator of how you should be treated and whether you like it or not, you are judged by the vehicle you drive. ;)
As someone intimidating, powerful and worthy of respect, why are you defending yourself against a cute kid?
