I'd argue it's closer to assimilation than theft, since those taken in with such knowledge were given a chance to not be lesser citizens by sharing what they knew.

In the end, it's about building a great product, who cares if you guys wrote ALL of the code? NO FUCKING ONE that's who... Make a product that is highly functional, pleasurable to look at, and satisfies a need and people will want to use it.
They've already borrowed plenty of "other peoples creations".
