That is what I liked about the novel American Psycho... It just kept pushing those boundaries.

 Yea. Much. But I didnt finish it. I found it too gory for my tastes.

Yes.  I liked it.  I like reading the reviews from people saying it was way to disturbing and brutal for them and because of that it ruined the symbolism in the film for them blah, blah, blah.  It was just too much for them and they don't know how to deal with it so they make excuses.

 "Martyrs" and "audition" ?

 I agree. The film is not at all hard to take, and it is reasonably well-cast. I liked is sufficiently to seek out the novel, which is considerably more brutal. But I didn't finish it because that shit  can be an unhealthy trigger for me.
