Hi everyone!
I'm making this little guide for two reasons. The first is because I believe that spending thought time on something is a great way to learn new things you would normalyl never had the chance of even considering. The second reason is to help COD players play a little bit better!
In HardCore mode, it only takes 1 or 2 bullets to die. This means that it's often not the person who's faster who gets the kill, but the person who's smarter.
If we consider that each player has about a 90 degree viewing angle of what's in front of them, this means that the player can only be looking at 25% of what's going on around them. This creates a significant opportunity for those who are able to get behind from where the player expects the enemy to be.
When playing COD Hard Core Search & Destroy, You have 3 options. One is to Camp. Camping involves walking a doorway that has a high probability of an enemy coming through, and using the advantage to kill them as they come through.
The 2nd option is to rush as quickly as possible. Due to the fact that the search is based (I suspect) on a database, the database has two possitions. The position of you, and the possition of the enemy. If you are moving extremely quickly, your local database will send the data to the server updating your coordanites, but this might take as much as a quarter of a second for the enemy's client to realize that you are there. This gives rushers a small opportunity to identify, aim at, and kill the enemy before they even realize you are there.
This "lag" provides a significant advatnage to rushers with good aim, and who know how to check their corners. Unfortunately, there isn't just one corner to check, and as a reuslt of this, it's still very likely that you could be camped be a clever camper.
The third option is to do nothing, and wait about 15-20 seconds. When two players spawn, they run toward eachother usually with the objectives in the middle. From experience, they become used to seeing an enemy pop out of certain locations at certain times. If you are 20 seconds behind, though, they will not expect you to be there, and when you appear, you will have the advantage of suprise.
Next is sound. Any player with good surround sound head phones has a significant advantage on the enemy. Not only can they hear an enemy rounding a corner before they do it, but they can also know the general direction to be looking in when the enemy comes. This narrows their viewing area down while the non-surround sound enemy must look in all directions and check all corners. If you want to be good at COD, you NEED a good headset!
You must switsh up your strategy often. If you kill an enemy at point A, you can be about 40% sure the enemy will come back to that point in the next round looking for revenge. This means that you cannot do the same thing over and over becsaue the enemy will anticipate it. If you rush as quickly as you can, and catch the enemy by surprise, I would not recommend rushing again.
Claymors play a huge role in COD. A rusher will have an advantage early game, but due to their spead, they will explore a large portion of the map in a short amount of time. This means that the probality of them running into your claymore isn't really that low. Experiment with different locations to place your claymore, and find the most effective ones!
Thanks everyone!
