"Responsibility" is a funny thing for a determinist, seeming more like shackles than the room to make choices.
Determinism is an interesting belief.
Mentally ill people tend to have an easier time projectively grasping it from already feeling somewhat out of control over their own lives.

This after the age of 20, everything that happens in your life is your own fault. You can choose who to keep in your life and what to do with it. Anything bad that happens to you (bar being fired or a violent assault) is your own fault. Assume the adult role and do smth about it

I kind of agree with this, and I also kind of don't.
Obviously people have some level of what we would consider autonomy. And if people don't do anything in their situation, it's their "fault" to the extent we hold people accountable for their actions.
At the same time as a hard determinist, I can see that people are little more than a feedback loop with their genetic makeup and environment. Our temperament and physical constitution is largely inborn. Most of our early life where we are learning how to interact with the world is out of our control. The interactions that form our sense of identity is largely out of our hands.
I see life as a massive chain chemical reaction that we're all riding out, so I get why some people are in a mold, or narrow. Not saying it's good to get "stuck," but I think a lot of people can't help it.
