Conservatives have it right, a valueless and nihilistic society ultimately leads to a society of crime, drug-addiction, high suicide rates, and terrorism - a society of tragedy that merely changes for the sake of change do to the novelty of it, liquidating all value.
Where conservatives get it wrong is their support of corporatism over all else. Technology, despite its undeniable utility, is a threat to all values left or right because that very utility, the utility of the novel gadget, liquidates earlier modes of being - the good and the bad alike.
