very similar to my story (obviously not exactly the same but, I can relate) but they cut out the nasty rock bottom part, which. I said many years ago if anyone were to ever watch a movie about my life, it would be too painful to watch and they'd have to cut out the bad parts. Looks like that's what they did here.
They cinematically portrayed rock bottom very briefly but, the truth is his rock bottom lasted more than a few minutes Overdosing in a bathroom stall, the hell goes on and on too long for anyone to want to watch. And you're brought to a level that is inhumane.
this is why I'm so damn tired tho, this is only half of what I've been through dude. im fuckin TIRED
^this book was written by Tracey, one of the girls that appears in the film. Of all the people interviewed, she was one of the only two, who survived and are still living today. And she wrote a book explaining how, for others to read who have been in the same place she has with addiction.
This movie always makes me not wanna use. Every time.
The story of rue Bennet is sadder than mine I think, but I relate to the rehab scene.
Unfortunately this is like, verbatim, the story of the boyfriend of mine that went to sober living now. The dread head guitar playin' dude.
Except they don't show the abuse, that's all that's missing. There's, a lot of abuse.
And once again, the rock bottom is a lot uglier. They pretty much just skipped over it.
It gets, rough. For some reason they don't like to show the part where you have an ankle bracelet or when you're detoxing on the floor of a prison cell. Or when you're carrying your friends dead body to a dumpster who overdosed. And running around scrapping together pieces of metal and living on the street, dirty, hungry, and all you want methadone but you'll take anything anyone gives you.
I'm sure he could tell the story better but, his story is, even rougher than rue Bennet's but, very similar. It's just, that's the reality that they hate to show on film for some reason. Siting by the methadone clinic with a bunch of dirty junkies and coughing up blood from lung infections is hard to romanticize.
