I used to have a beautiful mezuzah. It was actually covered in real gold, and was ingrained with Rose's on the side, on the outside, it had a special prayer, and inside was a rolled up piece of paper with a prayer written in Hebrew. I hung it on the outside of my door, because G_D commanded it to all of his people. My dad gave it to me when I moved far away with my spouse, as both a belated wedding gift and a parting gift. Like a housewarming present. It was as important to me as my wedding ring. But one of my neighbors stole it right off my door. I put up a new crappy one but it wasn't the same, and I cried for a long time. That was meant to be a generational gift, and it was gone just like that.
