Interesting. I have never combined MP and CP soap though I've done them separately.  I've toyed with the idea of embedding shapes of MP into CP.  Is there a significant difference in the hardness between the two?

I wasn't sure how it would turn out, but when I looked back at sample photos of the plum mica I realized the picture shown was in clear melt and pour, and it says it turns grey in cold process. I havent unmolded yet but I'm hoping there wont be too much of a difference. I really hope the extra moisturizing properties of the CP negates the dryness of the MP

Was the freezer placement done in order to prevent a gel phase?

Yes, I originally thought I would force gel phase but changed my mind as I didnt want the MP to melt and blur together

I'm about to try a shampoo bar recipe. My favorite shampoo (liquid) has been discontinued so I am looking to make one myself.  Have you ever used a shampoo bar? If so, what was your take on it?

Oo, I have never used a shampoo bar but Royalty Soaps put a tutorial on youtube for how to create them and I may try it one day. After soap and bath truffles I think lotion bars are going to be the next project I try :)

Well I just unmolded my second soap loaf. It was so beautiful when it came out, I should have taken a picture- It was essentially a total failure. Instead of a solid bar with two layers it turned into 2 seperate rectangles on top of each other, not at all connected. In a way I'm glad because I felt like adding the melt and pour was cheating at making my own soap, but I am also torn. These were intended to be Christmas/ Hanukkah presents and they arent as nice looking as I wanted them to be.

A few flaws is part of what sells the authenticity of being home-made.

These lotion bars are a morale booster!  They are easy to make and are also great gifts.  They are available to use as soon as they cool and pop out of the mold so there is that instant gratification component.  You can use any fragrance which pairs well with chocolate since the cocoa butter wafers are quite strong and smell edible.  I've used wild rose, vanilla, raspberry and my next one will be with Southern Peach BB fragrance because it smells so yummy in soap.  (You could use peach colored rose petals).

Soap fails can be rebatched in a crock pot.  However, if it is just a cosmetic issue then I would use them anyway.  And if your friends appreciate the quality of home made over commercial soap, they won't care about the esthetics.

I have had many soap fails.   All part of the learning process!  :)

This is my weekend project:

Edit:

came across this. Another cool idea for rebatching:

Pretty. Great job! I recommend making the holes bigger and perhaps pentagonal in shape, trypophobia is all the rage these days.

I saw that project right after you mentioned lotion bars to me and I would love to try them!
