your mom was done ironically
There's people like Jeff Lewis who specifically try to take photos of sleeping people to break that idea (and for fun).
I tried looking, but Google floods me with information on some chad-looking guy.
He's from the reality show "Flipping Out".
Garbage show, weird dude. What times I've been roped into it was purely to watch his behaviors.
My ex had an annoying camera habit, she would be like "look at the camera" Then I'd say just take pictures then an argument would break out. I took her album and was like look at this. Every picture for pages are of people just standing there with plastic smiles.
Groupshots and the sort are okay once in awhile, but i like to see undisturbed action.
I hate that, let people be authentic in the moment. When they ask you to smile, aren't they really asking you to present as if you were happy so that others who see it (and they themselves, looking back) can all think you were all constantly brimming with joy? Do they think if you smile just because they asked, that they coaxed happiness out of you?
"Alright guys, now lets take a crazy photo that looks like we're all goofy and having fun."

Didn't you have an avi gif of yourself growling at the camera a while ago?
