I dreamt last night I was in London
and I think I just got off the subway underground thing and came up from some stairs to you know the typical street area with the busy cars and y’all grey buildings
and I was standing on the sidewalk in front of a building with an iron fence, it was like noon or so but it was still really frosty and cold
and very very windy
so I was trying to light a cigarette but the wind was so bad even cupping my hands round it didn’t help much and the guy next to me was smoking his cigarette standing there in a parka and dark clothes and a hat
and he was bout 35/45 looking slender, wrinkled. And he just had tbis smirky look on his face like he was casually scoughing at me
but also laughing with me at the situation as I kept trying and trying to light it
and finally he said “you need a light?”
and I nodded and he lit it for me and I said “thanks” and then looked the opposite direction down the street
and He said from behind me, “how’d you end up in London?”
he could tell the American accent. and probably the way I was dressed. I wasn’t properly prepared for the cold
and he said, “you look like you just wound up here by mistake”
and I said “yeah, my mother kicked me out with nothing. now I’m stuck here.”
and then I asked for directions to where I needed to go, apparently there was a party with people I knew that I was invited to. I didn’t want to go but it was somewhere to be for a few hours until I could figure out where I was gonna sleep for the night. Figured I could eat off the finger food and be somewhere warm. Pretend to socialize holding a glass of champagne.
sit on some comfy chairs.
so I walked to this building that was sort of like a hotel lobby or maybe a country club looking place? There was a carpeted entry way and the interior was all old wood and it was dark and dingy and the floors creaked but despite being old and dusty, dingy. antique, it was also luxurious at the same time
Just old and dark. Dim dim.
and there was lots of antique puffy couches and chairs around with wood and satin patterned fabric, very out dated. And arching wooden ceilings and columns, shelves built into the walls. Chandeliers.
the iron windows had a view of the street outside I just came from. and I sat by the window in a chair looking out it at the icy wet London foggy winter weather with my hands in the pockets of my parka
and then someone came up to me and basically urged me to come over the table where there was lots of food it was a dining area but no one was sitting down in the chairs
this long buffet antique wooden table had tons and tons of food on it
everyone was crowded around laughing drinking eating gorging themselves on these little hot pastries and fruit cakes sandwiches meats cheeses the works
and I kind of stood in the back of the crowd not really able to squeeze in and I took a scope of the food
and I noticed a spider crawling across the bottom of the table that was very large and Greyson white and very hairy
almost looked ghostly like it was ancient
and i looked around and noticed little invisible webs had been drawn everywhere around us and no one had noticed
and then I watched for him and he scurried along the bottom of the table and disappeared behind the leg
and I just backed away because I didn’t want to get caught in the web or have it jump on me
and I no longer wanted to eat the food because I felt
like the spider had crawled on it without anyone noticing
I didn’t tell anyone about the spider or the webs. And I watched people waltz through the webs or casually stick their foot out under the table or lean over into it
and I was waiting for the spider to jump out any moment but it never did and they were fine
but I knew as soon as I walked through a web I would be at risk to have it jump on me, despite everyone else doing it and be fine so I was scared and stayed away from that dining room
and someone was like, “you don’t have an appetite?”
and I said, “ah nah I already ate.” (I lied).
the truth is, you have a spider as a guest at your party and it’s really grossed me out.
anyways. That’s all I can remember.
