Some people have unhealthy coping mechanisms with grief. They're doomed to cycle back into denial as a way of getting out of depression, rather than accepting what happened.

I've seen a lot of people who go through the first four stages of grief in different orders while otherwise regressing to earlier stages repeatedly. 

She's definitely resorted to bargaining by now more than once, and depression from her are usually the few times she sounds almost like a normal human being.
