Superiority complex, I'd say. They truly believe the US is the greatest nation on planet earth.
Rant incoming...
I am, unfortunately, in a pretentious hotel restaurant surrounded by mostly Germans. At the other end of this room, which is about the size of a football pitch, there’s an young American woman with what I’m assuming are her parents or grandparents.
I literally cannot hear the person next to me because from the other side of this room - again, that is the size of a football pitch - this woman is bellowing at her parents at volume 97: “SO MY FRIEND CASEY GOT AN ABORTION BECAUSE SHE WAS LIKE TOTALLY STRESSED AND SHE WAS LIKE WORKING THREE JOBS AND SHE’D BEEN HAVING LIKE EPISODES OF LIKE ROADRAGE WHERE SHE LIKE GOT OUT OF HER CAR AND SHE WAS LIKE BANGING ON THE WINDOW OF THE OTHER CAR AND SHE ALMOST GOT LIKE ARRESTED”... completely oblivious to the fact that her voice is reverberating around this room and there are at least 30 other people in here who can’t fucking hear themselves think for hearing about Casey and her fucking mental breakdown and subsequent abortion. I am literally on here typing this because I can’t have a conversation with the person next to me because this woman is so fucking loud.
They’ve also been talking really loudly about a period in the history of the country we are in that’s still a bit taboo to talk about, loudly speculating about whether a 13 year old relative of theirs masturbares (we are trying to EAT here), and I heard: “vino tinto is coloured wine, right?” “Yes, but you can’t talk about coloured PEOPLE hahaha” followed by laughter for about five minutes.
I don’t mean to be dismissive of another culture but WHY ARE YOU THIS FUCKING LOUD???!!
dude it's cos they think they are so interesting that everyone needs to know about them. my bf and i always make fun of american tourists announcing their greasy loud arrivals. also while we're on the subject of how annoying, brainwashed, narcissistic and delusional americans are, why the FUCK do they see fit to change the name of another country, 'EYERAN, EYERAQ, CUTTER' it's just plain disrespectful. also why do the female americans indulge in the sound of their own voice that at some point it turns into an actual croak. wew.
America has many sub-cultures. yes, some are loud and obnoxious. but some are reserved.
im sure where ever you are from there are loud people also.
See, that's the thing.
As Americans, the louder ones tend to be the ones who can afford to travel, while quieter types tend to just stick to their own country. Otherwise go figure that this is easily the Squeaky Wheel scenario, where the ones yelling are the ones who are going to be noticed. It seems like the richer ones are the ones who make a bigger fuss about themselves and "their vacation".
I'm American and even I find "The American Tourist" very annoying, but not every American Tourist is *THE* American Tourist. I've even shared some "...really?" glances when they'd be yelling about how amazing their hotel room is and shit on the middle of an otherwise quiet public train and shit like that.
The squeaky wheels ruin it for us all.

this totally makes sense. One of the things that annoyed me most about Loud Girl and her friend Casey is that judging by some of the stories she was telling, if they had been working class and/or black they would have no doubt been shot by police years ago, probably wouldn’t have even lived to see adulthood.
Tbf Russian and Chinese tourists can be obnoxious af as well but it’s more bearable when you can’t understand what they’re saying.
Can you tell us more about Casey?
She was working three jobs because her mom cut her off after That Thing, which was never elaborated on, and considering this woman had no qualms about broadcasting intimate details of her menstrual cycle across the restaurant of a four star hotel, I personally am curious as to what on earth could be that taboo, but didn’t want to butt in and ask.
She then had some sort of breakdown which involved episodes of road rage where, apparently multiple times, she would jump out of her car and bang on the windows of random cars shouting obscenities, but yet was somehow only ‘almost’ arrested. She was then checked into some sort of facility where she was diagnosed with PTSD after The Thing, found out she was pregnant and decided to get an abortion cos she was feeling a bit stressed. I’m normally pro-life but that was an understandable decision imo.

I've had some travel times where I see the noisy American and I'm like "Please... please stop." in my head as I just... sit there and deal with them being total Gaijin.
It's the worst thing, especially in TEMPLES. I saw some business suit types walking through a peaceful quiet place to collect yourself by yelling into cellphones and stepping on delicate things. I'm embarrassed to be a part of that culture when they refuse to blend in, but so do a large amount of other Americans.
Culture is very prone to lumping everyone under one banner. Do you know how many of them just assumed I was a Trump supporter from them, whether because of projecting a monarchy understanding of society or just from wanting to feel like they know stuff? "No no I don't like him" seems to shock a lot of people even though it ought to be obvious.

Traveling has made me racist against the Chinese. I made so many excuses for them until I saw it firsthand outside of the US itself.

Chinese tourists warned over bad behaviour overseas
They need more than a warning, dear god.
Those poor staff members that have to try to be polite to those people while they flagrantly use their power in numbers to not respect rules. They also litter in temples, pull out cellphones during shows that block everyone in "no cellphone" shows as a giant clustered group that refuses to acknowledge the Ushers waving signs in their face and asking them to stop, I've been shoved out of line by them to the point that the person helping me was trying to get back to serving me... only to see them waving money in their faces while barking (not speaking, "UHH UHH" sounds) and pointing at menu options, I saw one older chinese lady shove a woman on crutches so she could have a better spot in line...
For real, they make even the loudest clumsiest American look polite. When they are present in large numbers, they have no respect for any but their own group. An American might argue over their entitlement room, but Chinese people just ignore them like they don't exist.

They also pose in front of sacred monuments while flipping them off for photos, but that's so harmless by comparison.
