In a nutshell you're giving a sweet supply to Sam, and he'll think of you more and more until you start reeling him in by decreasing how often you contact him. When you do contact him he'll be more open to you. He might even think he's in love.

All of the energy of your efforts has to go somewhere and if it backfires it will all come back to you driving you crazy.
