I could actually see you getting decent grades from how well you can block out everything else around you. 

It's a shame that, past a point, grades aren't real life anymore.

It's true if you get to a certain level,  you are all the former top-scorers and then the curve starts to fall off. So in that sense, no it doesn't matter.
