Amazon rainforest belongs to Brazil

President Jair Bolsonaro has insisted that the Brazilian areas of the Amazon rainforest are sovereign territory.

Conservationists blame Mr Bolsonaro and his government for turning a blind eye to farmers and loggers clearing land in the Amazon, hastening deforestation.

But in an address at the United Nations in New York, he struck a defiant note.

He said it was a "fallacy" to describe the Amazon as the heritage of humanity and a "misconception" that its forests were the lungs of the world.

Brazil - home to more than half the Amazon rainforest - has seen a significant rise in the number of fires in 2019, according to US space agency Nasa and others.

Environmentalists say the far-right Mr Bolsonaro's policies have led to an increase in fires this year, and that he has encouraged cattle farmers and loggers to clear large areas of the rainforest since his election last October.

this brings up some interesting discussion around sovereign territory. lets just say that the rain forest was the Earth's last hope for survival. What should the global community do? attack and make war to save the Earth. maybe so. when does the global concern override the sovereign territory and who's decision is it?

at some point the human development must stop. i mean the earth is finite. we cant cut down every tree can we? what an ugly earth that would be. more fucking cows for human food.

To make this into a somehow internationalist conspiracy, is idiotic, destruction of the Amazon Forest will not only kill Brazil, it will dramatically harm the word, this is the same guy that tried to say that it was environmentalist burning down the forests to blame on him and attack him. Brazil despite being on the equator like Africa is a cool place, you know why? Because of the Rain Forest and the amount of water it holds, Destroy the trees, there goes that cycle of stored water to be evaporated, spread across the world, and also put back into the rain forest.  Without the Rain Forest, Brazil would become a hot place, much like Africa.

22 million was offered to Brazil to help, that is a fucking joke. 50 million was spent in making the emoji movie.

Earth has a mechanism that allows us to even exist. The Amazon is a big part of that function. There's a documentary series on Netflix I would recommend called One Strange Rock I can't entirely describe it, but basically the Amazon Forest is important because (and I could be wrong, I'll have to re-watch) it plays a part in storing lots of water that is evaporated and travels and it was gives rain to a lot of places, like America. If I'm wrong, I'll correct it later.

Bolsonaro doesn't care about the forests, he only cares about profit. He should be executed.

I'll try to expand more on this tomorrow.

No one was rushing to stop people in North America or Asia (or those lands at least, before and after aquiring the names) from developing into farmland, communities, and eventually large cities. Now that the more progressive places have already developed they deem it to be a sin or a crime for peoples elsewhere to develop their own forrests into farms or cities.

"But hey, thats MY oxygen! I need it because I already destroyed all the trees on this continent so I can live more comfortably than you"

Sc is pretty boring.

right, so do we just stand by and watch the destruction? when is it time for action? when is enough enough?

hypothetically the Earth will die without the rain forest

1 - Most fires occurs due to the natural dried weather that do happen from time to time. You can’t avoid. It has been happening since the forest was there. It’s part of nature. Calm your butts down leftists.

2 - Bolsonaro cut down major donations to NGO’s due to money laundering. Yes, just in Amazon there are over 16 THOUSANDS NGO ready to “ protect “ the Amazon.

3 - As soon as the NGO’s start bleeding without money, suddenly 🔥 :0

Coincidence.

4 - Statistics show that there were more deforestation caused by fire during the whole government of Lula, the godfather of the Worker’s Party red star hammer sickle king (who is in jail and won’t leave so soon 😋)

5 - The only real interest people have in Amazon is to do what Brazil does. Harvesting. Don’t a sheeple naive follower, fool enough to believe people wants the best for the world or whatever. It still makes me laugh to see some idiots still buy that crap.

6 - Have you checked the actual date of the photo you posted? Leonardo Dicaprio got shunned because he posted one of Amazon, in 2002 XD. The leftist bitch was so ashamed for his idiocracy he never apologized for misleading the sheeples.

Yes, fires do occur naturally, and be good for the environment, but when you're carving it up and destroying parts of it, more forest fires are going to occur, it's going to mess with the ecosystem and function that the Amazon Forest plays.

I'm not a fan of NGOs, and I don't know too much on this topic, so I won't comment on it. It wouldn't surprise me if they were money laundering, but I have no clue.

Can you send me the source by chance? It wouldn't surprise me if so, but I just want to see. Also, Lula isn't a marxist. Just because the PT used a red star and calls themselves "The Worker's Party" doesn't mean their communists or actually for the people, they're social democrats, just like bernie sanders, AOC, and Scandinavia. Welfarsim /=/ Marxism.

If Welfarism = Marxism, then Otto Von Bismarck was a comrade.

I'd say most of the green movement is just a different sect of corporations that want to usher in green energy, generally in like with the welfarists, because their strategy is more orientated towards "appeasing" people.

I don't subscribe to this idea that somehow everything will be sunshine and rainbows, and we'll all be saved, because humanity is inherently good, and we'll fix it in the end, no, I believe this could very well kill us, because people don't wants best for this world. These sorts of things take action. Not whining.

The image doesn't load for me, and I don't believe that raising money for charity to donate to help the amazon forest would do anything, most of this protesting bullshit will do nothing, because most people wouldn't be ready to take up arms and fight. They already mostly delude themselves to stay away from most problems of today, they don't want to entirely recognize it.

my question to everyone is when does the destruction need to stop and who decides this? about 20% has already been cleared for human needs.maybe 50% destruction is good? how about 75% gone is that ok? fuck just get rid of it at 100% gone. should be ok right?

when a sovereign nation destroys a global treasure what should be done? does the global community just sit back a watch the destruction and do nothing?

We cant stop them because that isnt their territory. Solution: plant forests where you live. Most of deteoit is a shit hole, lets give it back to nature.

I don't think it should be destroyed at all, I think the fact that this is happening will cause major devastation to the world we live in. It's not just the Amazon, it's global warming in general, and I don't see the global community has responsible enough. they all in one way or another contribute to these problems, these problems that are fixable, I consider this to be the cancerous nature of profit motive, I personally don't see anything valuable being done to stop this under the current economic system that practically all of the world operates on, Capitalism. It's doing what it was intended for, to industrialize and increase production, but it's purpose has become a cancer to the earth and humanity. These corporations are the same kinds that dab in poaching endangered species, human trafficking, drug trafficking, because of the profit motive. The profit motive doesn't have morality, it doesn't have ethics, it can't be reasoned with, it's only goal is profit, even if it stands in the way humanity and the earth. Time and time again, countless crimes committed, just look back in the late 1800s and to early 1900s, the tragedy of the meat industry, union workers would be slaughtered, child labor, there's no conscience to it. The only thing that has stopped the brutality has been government intervention, government regulation, and even then when those things are put into place, the companies move their businesses to another country.

The democrats, the liberals, whatever you wish to call them, they are not your saviors, they are apart of the problem. Obama wasn't a savior, Bernie Sanders won't save you, nor will that cunt Hillary. The same applies to any other capitalist country. Reform doesn't work, and nothing will truly be fixed in a system that causes the problems to begin with.

Only two options exist. To either sit around and watch as everything burns, or to organize, prepare, and fight.

So far, in my eyes, most of humanity will probably pick the first option.

I recommend this three minute video.
