In the link above you'll find a paper that was originally published on Nasa's NTRS service site on 9/21/2019 but it was quickly taken down. The paper outlines how Google just reached "Quantum Supremacy" which means their QC has managed to perform a process faster than the fastest classical counterpart. The task was specifically to calculate the randomness of of numbers generated by a random number generator. Supposedly Googles computer completed the task in 3 minutes 20 seconds while it would approximately take the worlds fastest classical computer Summit 10,000 years.

It's important to note that this milestone does not imply quantum computer's are generally faster than classical ones.

If this is true, then I can only hope that a Quantum Computer acts like an AI, achieves singularity, and goes rogue. I don't trust any company or any nation of modern day with such a thing.

Edit: A real fucking miracle is if somehow Posadism was correct except instead of aliens, it was AI.

Actually, I hardly ever watch TV. I'm not implying that it's going to play into the trope of becoming the terminator. That is just a hope, I don't think it would.

Regardless of such, I do not trust quantum computing in the hands of any company or any nations of today.

Edit: I guess if I had to pick someone to have it in their hands, I'd pick the DPRK.

It certainly could be fake given neither Nasa nor Google has confirmed yet. Having said that reaching this milestone at this moment in time is not surprising if you follow Quantum Computing. This was achieved with a 54-qubit computer and the theoretical minimum for Supremacy is 50-qubits. In 2017 Google had a stable 49-qubit system with supremacy in mind.

Beyond the larger stable system, I think the vast improvements to the fidelity of their system is far more impressive.
