Personality vs Anonymity

I see two types of users that often surface on SC. Oftentimes, these two types are represented by the same real life person but nevertheless the difference between these two approaches is very different.

So first you got the cult of personality user. They typically choose a permanent avatar to represent themselves. They also have a permanent username. These users aim to make a name for themselves on the forum and express their personalities very directly. They tyoically make the same kinds of posts for years on end and are the people who would be seen as "regular SC-ers" and thus, care about reputation and image.

Then you got the Anon. They typically use the default avatars and use stupid usernames of bad taste. They care far less about image because they constantly make new accounts and craft half baked personalities. On top of it users of the first type also become anons, using puppets to be mean to their fellow SC-ers with little consequence unless caught. These are the types that spam and cp post and overall act idiotic because they have no reputation to destroy.

And so you get absolute freedom in the Anon approach, and a chance to make a name for yourself and create a signature style in the cult of personality approach. It's up to the user which one they would rather do.

And so I pose this question- which do YOU fit into? Or is it both?

My grandiose delusions are better than yours.

"Keep them guessing" requires a blend of both:

Be Anonymous and they won't have anything to anchor onto to ask questions.

Be Known too much and you'll be predictable and boring to them.

I can't comfortably allow myself to say the N-word, let alone type it or even copy/paste it.
