It in general made for an interestingly different way of navigating. That website felt very swimmy when going through different pages.

Only thing I don't see myself liking about it is the increased likelihood of skipped reading. If the post read was already on the wrong page it could stand to grow infectious.

Even luna was on board for profiles and wanted me to create them for her

I don't think we really need profiles further than what we have now (do we really need an "About Me" page for our real name, where we live, and all that shit? No). I mostly enjoyed it for the oddly swimmy navigation room, as NodeBB had tons of ways of filtering topic and post data. I'd also imagine a non-streamline version draining that many more resources from the site. 

I will say this though: Being able to "follow" an account was kinda nice, and while I don't like the potential to skip reading other people in topics it'd be more bound to bump good topics back to the front page than without it.

Couldn't that style of search result hypothetically be a part of someone's profile without draining much from the website? 

I was just showing how you can use the current functionality to achieve a similar effect
