If Humanity becomes doomed sooner than I wanted, then my dream is to at least live in Alaska or somewhere cold. Live up in the woods, dig my own trench, and bunker, maybe even have a cabin, and just live. Just have a crossbow for hunting, and a gun with ammo for emergencies, since obvious ammo is a finite resource, unless I could manage to make my own, but that's unlikely. Other than that, I'd just sit in my trench, with my gun, with a trench coat, gasmask, boots, gloves, an m56 stahlhelm and just live. Perhaps have some books with me and read. Admittedly, I'm a little addicted to computers, not that I hate them, but unless I could create my own wifi-connection I'd need to stop that whole ordeal.
Just me, my clothes on my back. my trench and if I could I'd tame a wolf, but I doubt that. I'm aware it sounds slightly unrealistic and such, but it's something I've thought about, hell maybe even have my own radio, and maybe some songs to play. I do enjoy some music.
Call it larpy, call it whatever you wish. It's just a thought in my head, and I'd like to just relax till I'm dead when that happens. In the current situation, I sadly lack a lot of practical knowledge to carry out said plan, I want to learn a lot. Like learning to farm, cook, build, all the essentials to self-sufficiency. If I could choose how I did, I'd like to die in war. Preferably on the side I'd want to be on. All of these are goals I want to work on, and I consider this a goal towards my own perfection. I'd be entirely fine with adding friends to this dream, building maybe a small group to work together and live, while everything goes to shit, but I know this is all very unlikely, but still. If my primary directive is far gone, then it's just a secondary goal. Even if I don't achieve it. I'd be fine. As long as I'm on a new path away from my current life. I just want a clean new slate. With exception of some people I know, and still being in touch with them.
Even if I wear to achieve said goals I'd probably still do something similar to what I just suggested if everything were to fail. It'd be like Thanos caring out what he wanted, then just living on his own growing crops and being self-sufficient.
There are practically deserted islands that exist in the pacific ocean, that are only inhabited by monks. very few even probably know they really exist.
they live off of the land there, and have self sustaining forms of their own government.
you'll be protected from disease epidemics, there is tillable soil there and vegetation to live off of and you're pretty far from anywhere there would have been major nuclear blasts if they bombed major cities of most countries.
the less people the better, you want less chance for disease, cannibalism, and less people to ration food between to keep the fights few and far between and the organizational/governmental system as in check as possible.
the only downside is, anything you'd normally of had in the mainland back home, you won't have there. but- the plus side is you get to sleep at night knowng someone isn't comign to brutally murder you and eat you. peacefully.
besides, the stuff that everyone wants from back on the mainland, like medicine or, medical care. fresh water. stuff to make fire with to cook food. food in general. cars, gasoline, even operating planes and connections to the people that have them. those are the highest valuable items, but- there will be so much blood shed over them, that you likely won't be able to get any without risking your life first.
not to mention, i wouldn't doubt people forming militia's of there own and such to fight for themselves with, groups that, try to salvage what's left of the resources for themselves by killing everyone else. just for things they wanted. whether it be, sunscreen or, a form of currency. who knows what they want.
but i think our own kind would be the thing to look out for most.
in the event of like a walking dead type apocalypse, i would hide in the trees or go underground in the tunnel system if too many people are shooting at me in the trees. idk. it just depends on how it goes. the tunnels might be full of people who had the same idea. i'm sure there would be people living in abandoned subways and railway cars and what not.
the idea they had in the walking dead to start a commune on the roof of a hospital was kind of a good idea.
but there are NASA facilities and things like that- that if they're not over run or blocked off, or whatever. I would go there. They have these like huge buildings that are made of fucking steel, built to withstand a *lot* of powerful shit. they could def take bullets and shit. they stand about sixteen feet tall in the air, on huge iron poles. so the only way to get to them is with a long ladder.
these buildings were designed for the workers to live in while they worked on the rocket ships, which are very tall. so the building is designed to be *movable*... it can be moved anywhere with a tank or a toe.
and it can be adjusted in height. and the tanks they have, don't just move forward and backward, they can move in all directions. highly sophisticated rovers. they also have "blast resistant" tanks. which might come in handy in an apocalypse. buildings full of technology that would be extremely useful for communications should you be able to get any sort of a signal to anywhere.
they use satellite instead of interent to communicate and do locations services, and have like special ways of communicating with the government and what not. and i would find that very helpful.
so yeah, i would go straight to NASA.
but first i would go to my grandfathers house, which is abandoned at the moment because he doesn't live there anymore obvioulsy (RIP) but he has a shit ton of guns, an entire arsenal, and those things are fully loaded and ready to go.
so i would just take everything i had there, and get to NASA. then think of a strategize plans to get a pilot and a plane to take me to that island far away.
but yeah if all things go to shit- just live in the trees. hide there. it's pretty simple, all you need is a lot of rope. and if you don't even have that, just duct tape knives to your feet, and climb mother fucker.
when you're afraid of getting eaten alive by zombies, it's surprisingly easier to climb straight up a tree trunk with knives taped to ur feet, and obviously knives in hand. but it's a lot easier to be done with a rope.
and then you just tie yourself to the trunk and sit up there.
you could also head north to the caves inside mountains, and try to live there quitely but. that's a long journey, and the snow is dangerous. not to mention no way to grow shit, so you have to hunt. and good luck surviving the wild beasts and wolves that try to kill you. also, you can't run too fast in a certain temperature that is too low, it causes your lungs to essentially burst and you drown in your own blood from the inside out and pass out in the snow and die.
not being able to run in a zombie apocalypse and not being able to grow food is a problem. but if you can find a little cabin that you think is safe, it might could work temporarily. you'll just always be in danger of ambush i guess, depending on how difficult the location is to get to.
and lastly, naval bases in the middle of the fucking ocean/military bases. also hippie communes in british columbia canada.
there is a military base where my mom used to live, that's literally on an island. they have amunition to protect themselves with from air strikes. and there is one bridge, onto the island, and off the island. that's it. and it's very, very long. and the water is deep. so, if you could manage to keep this island fairly ok. you could live there. and guard it, from the bridge. or just, explode the bridge if it becomes that much of a problem.
just make sure you have a boat XD
but yeah, setting to the seas is not smart unless you really know what you're doing. it's very rough and difficult to survive long distance travel like that without knowledge of the seas and what not. and even with knowledge, and all the bravery in the world- it still may not work out.... the ocean will kill you. but, if you can mange to get to a naval base. that might be a good spot if everything is absolutely gone to shit and you're out of options. there likely wouldn't be very many peopl ethere, because it requires a plane or an excellent naval captain, to locate and get to.
how much supplies they have, who knows. just make sure you have enough fuel to leave. because you likely cannot stay there for long, you can't live off of fish forever, mercury builds up in the body from eating fish consistently for too long, and you'll die from that essentially. it's not pretty.
but yeah uh, the hippie commune in i think... victoria canada if i'm not mistaken. it's an island, self sustaining hippie commune. lots of live off of there.
also, there is an underground cave system that people live in out in nevada, it's pretty cool. so that's a place to survive for a while. you'll have to hunt though, the soil is shit and there's not much water. but there is one entrance to the cave system, and it's designed for human habitation, they have beds and everything. a whole "city" essentially but underground. and, you can close it off with this iron door they have. it's pretty sick.
and then you have, that weird island that hasn't been touched by modern civilization yet. there's lots of like "abandoned islands" but i just figure lots of people will go there by boat. but, this island was recently discovered and it has people on it that have no knoweldge of the outside world and speak a language unknown to us. they're self sustaining obviously. but, if you arriave there, they will likely kill you. the reason we can't get in touch with them is because they kill anyone that arrives tehre on sight. no one's been able to make it to the shore, they're violent.
but if yo uhave a machine gun it might work.
and, lastly. the aboriginals of australia. that might be a place to go. i don't know.
just be weary of water, don't drink or go in rivers that you don't know are safe. cover exposed wounds. always wear shoes and thick clothing to cover your legs and arms, and surround them with duct tape or something as armour.
scratches that get infected with bacteria, is the thing you're probably most likely to die from, apart from natural viruses and disease, dehydration, starvation, sun exposure, heat, or extreme cold.
you can manage to survive, but you can't forget about the reality of infection and viruses, bacteria, the microbes. the fungeses. boiling the water. being weary of the food you eat. the soil you grow it in. the water you step in or bathe in. not to step in animal feces. don't eat weird plants or bugs. etc.
even then, youll likely get a run down immune sysem, catch a cold you can't fight off, or a virus. and without antibiotics or medical assistance, you die from a high grade fever one night in your sleep.
you also need to know how to use all your weapons, or they'll be used against you. know how to load them in your sleep, in the dark, blindfolded, backwards and fowards, inwards and out. do it in 7 seconds. then do it in 5. do it behind your back. store your weapons
in intelligent places. be prepared for all kinds of combat. work out, strengthen your muscles, your dexterity, your reflexes.
arm strength is super important for ammunition.
and most importantly, a team of people you can trust.
also, know how to siphen gasoline and steal tires, hot wire cars.
ideally you want some geeks around. the geekier the better. protect your nerds. scientists, engineers, IT nerds, doctors and nurses.
they're likely all you got.
i thought about it, and i would also stop by medieval times or maybe a "cop-shop" i know of in town and literally just load up on body armour of all sorts if you can. but if not, duct tape and phone books, card board. whatever you can.
also you really need a rope and a claw hook. if not multiple ropes. keep a backpack for storing a little pot to boil shit in, liter, matches, whatever. and make sure its kept safe from water damage. compass, radio, phone. first aid. ammunition. canned beans. you can survive off of cans of beans and water for days. or if you're lucky, MRE's from a military compound. a watch or a timer, for sleeping schedules.
if you can't get a rope, think outside the box. a yard hose might save your life. store it intelligently so it's ready for use. and you can also tie together lots of curtains sheets, clothing etc to make one. if you need to propel out of buildings in a pinch.
and make sure your shoes are quiet when you walk. master the art of sleeping, while awake. master the art of creative weapons.
anything you tink that will help you. put spikes on your gloves, your head, your elbows, your shoes on all sides.
it comes in handy if you have to fight, you can just stab anyone from any angle i suppose.
also, if you're going to a grocery store or anything like that. just go in through the roof. the AC vents. always. make sure no one knows you're there. scope out first, don't pick up. then strategize and efficient plan. then pick up.
thats a military rule, it works. if you're living somewhere termporarily, know the lay of the land like the back of your hand. every street corner. eveyr building, every window. they call it "doing a dry run"
it's all about preparedness, strategic thinking, and cooperation.
and also. important rule of team work- no man left behind. it's annoying but, it'll be the thing that saves your ass one day. haven't seen joe in a couple of hours? go get his ass. even if takes three days to find him.
Do you know how many people will flee to alaska?
This is one of those things where my saying "If I had a quarter for every time" I'd actually turn a decent profit.
oh and i forgot the global seed arsenal (fail safe for if all the plants in the world fucking die) and the CDC might be cool to check out. lol but probably over run. too many people will have the idea to go to these places. the path there might even be dangerous AF.
people tyring to protect it or keep it to themselves may just kill you as soon as you step foot on a certain path. you know. so it's not recommended but, these are places to think about when ur in an apocalypse.
oh and batteries, if you see them laying around. any kind of battery. paper clips. wires. these things come in handy. if you learn about weapons or electricity you shoul dknow what sort of things you can make electicity from, to charge a phone or, things you can make mini bombs with or fire with. ways to collect water or desalinize it. things to clean wounds with, etc. these are things you want to hoard. even watch batteries.
like if u see a dead guy laying on the ground, take everything he has. belts. watches. shoe laces.
and if you can get one, gas masks or any form of a mask you can find or create. eye shields. etc.
and you wanna have something on you that can tie off bleeding wounds : ) a tourniquet or, whatever. most medical people know how long you have to live after getting shot, stabbed, or fully amputated limbs. these are things you want to know. well, estimated times on, losing consciousness to blood loss ratio's, and then how long you have to actually live should you be lucky enough someone saves your unconscious ass. might be helpful to know and educate your team on ;) it's different depending on the location you were stabbed or shot. and amputated limbs are a whole different story. significantly less time to live with those.
a lot of my trauma from ptsd manifested as nightmares about apocalypses.
i became a master of lucid dreaming at a really young age, and so when the nightmares set in at full volume, i have like full conscious detailed memory of them and also was able to control my actions in the dreams to better survive.
i survived countless situations, *sometimes*. Sometimes I would make mistakes, learn from them, and the dream starts over or I'd have it again later- and I'd know what to do that time from my mistakes.
I think it was my minds way of sorting out all the stress, anxiety, and grief and just trauma and shit that I was going through at the time. I harboured some seriously gnarly shit, if you look at the dreams I had.
So that's why I talk about this topic at length, because I've lived half my life already in some variant of an apocalypse- in my dreams already. So it feels almost familiar to me. Hahah
There was one dream I had, where I was living on this camp grounds. And it was like a community of a few hundred people at least that had all gathered there. And it was a sort of sanctuary that people flocked to from all over. Where there was order, and peace.
Obviously the zombie virus would break out every now and then within the commune, and we had strategized directives of handling it. As soon as you show symptoms, you are taken to a clinic. And you become a guinea pig for a cure, for the sake of humanity. And then they kill you, if they can't cure you. Or they've gathered enoguh data. Because- you're already dead anyways. Now you're just a risk to harm others so they have to kill you.
Once you go in the doors of those clinics, no one comes out. But everyone goes in hopeful they'll be the one that they can cure.
But all they could do was manage to help you live a little longer. 3 days, a few weeks. a few months. they couldn't cure anyone. just wasted resources keeping them alive, by a thread. a tedious and difficult process.
And so, one day. My friend got sick. "the sickness" and she said she was going into the clinic. I was immediately in mourning, but put on a hopeful face for her. And fed her denial, "yeah, everything's going to be ok. they can help you."
and i walked with her to the doors of the clinic. and by the time i left her bed side, visiting with her for a time. I stepped outside to gather myself emotionally. I was about to just burst into tears and i couldn't hold it back anymore. and i was angry. and i was tired of sitting by her bedside smiling, watching her symptoms get worse by the minute.
And when i stepped outside, there was an ambush of zombies. the alarms were sounding. everyone was runnnig and it was chaos. to hiding places. we had drills for this. there were things you're supposed to do during these events. but i stayed in place.
i didn't want to leave my friend. i knew they'd abandon everyone in the clinic to get eaten alive and i was angry that now was her time, instead of later. like it was supposed to be. her mom hadn't come to see her yet. we were waiting on her to come... my friend kept asking me, "is she coming?" and i had to keep reassuring her.
so i was just pissed i was tired and fed up with thhe apocalypse- in this dream having been 10 years or more into it already. the way of life, was draining and hard. you know. (these dreams got more and more tiring and hard as the years went on in real life as i was having them. they actually wore on my psyche it seemed like, and so my brain represented that in the dream state by having the setting usually be later into the apocalypse- where i'm tired, fed up, and want to give up at this point- because in real life, i was exhausted from fighting these dreams all the time n shit and tired out in real life too lol). #ptsd lol
But yeah i was tired. i gave up. i knew it was over for us anyways. i was tired of being over run. i didn't want my friend to die yet, i couldn't just abandon her.
and i was tired of running from these fucking zombies fearing them all the time.
so i just went crazy and took out heavy artillery and whistled from them to come over to me (distracting them from the clinic, letting the nurses and doctors inside scramble to safety, saving their lives). and this herd of zombies came runnnig at me.
and i just started screaming and blasting the shit out of them machine gun style hahahah
and they just kept coming but i just mowed them all down, the gun practically ripping my shoulder out of socket. i could feel every bullet that was fired in my chest.
shit was crazy!
then i woke up.
it sounds exhausting because it is. thankfully i'm not cursed with these dreams anymore after getting like therapy and meds and shit lol, clearly had some issues to work out. but yeah, the nightmares are gone now yay :)
i keep thinking of more ideas.
there's plenty of caves around the world to hide in. most are ancient. that might be a good way to live, in the event of everything going to shit
ancient cultures carved their homes out of mountains, so it's like, a habitat inside of a mountain it's pretty fucking cool.
and like, the caves in malta are pretty elaborate and could house like, 1,000 people. these are man made cave dwellings i'm talking about. elaborate systems underground. there's little nooks and crannies like that to hide in essentially all over the planet. they're pretty mind blowing to look at, and they're designed to like, move water around from place to place and stuff... and store large amounts of water.
some of them have heat resistant elements lining them (that have been placed tere by ancient people) and it's so cool. they can withstand, temperatures higher than a rocket blasting off. fire hotter than that.
they're in egypt.
