You keep saying you are, so you'll remain that way.
When it's used as a reason to try harder, it is strength.
When it's used as a reason to not try, it's weakness.
When it's used as self-validation, accolades, or excuses, it's attempting to justify and enable it.
Labeling Theory:
Wikipedia said:Labeling theory is the theory of how the self-identity and behavior of individuals may be determined or influenced by the terms used to describe or classify them.
It is associated with the concepts of self-fulfilling prophecy and stereotyping. Labeling theory holds that deviance is not inherent in an act, but instead focuses on the tendency of majorities to negatively label minorities or those seen as deviant from standard cultural norms. The theory was prominent during the 1960s and 1970s, and some modified versions of the theory have developed and are still currently popular. A stigma is defined as a powerfully negative label that changes a person's self-concept and social identity.
Labeling theory. Something like that.
Without the meds there are still days she would feel better, and I mean if she never took meds to begin with. But even so she reminds herself of what she is and she expects to feel like shit then in comes the self inflicted cycle of depression again, then while she's depressed she gets sympathy which is a form of affection/attention as it beats nothing.
It all comes down to how one thinks. It's no secret that one's on logic can add or subtract from emotions.

im a firm believer in labeling theory and self fulfilling prophecy as people are moldable creatures especially at a young age
