Everything is plagiarized to some degree, insofar at least as how we learn from what we see that came before us. I mean ffs the Christians stole from Jewish and Pagan people and you were carrying on that way for a good while.

If people are all writing based on the world they live in, what else are they going to have as source material for their own works? 

I find this to moreso demonstrate Existential thought over how everything is connected and has a foundational ancestry for where the logic comes from.

Hollywood kind of sucks now though, not sure if it's the best example.

Humans did not evolve from one individual “thing.” Populations changed over time, branched, mixed, and were shaped by mutation, selection, physical constraints, and circumstance. Even shared ancestry would only establish a causal history, not that everything has one conceptual foundation or that every creation is plagiarism. Similar outcomes can also develop independently under similar conditions. Nothing is completely unique, but that does not make everything plagiarism. Nothing is a complete copy either, and distinctions can exist even between highly derivative works. Influence exists by degrees, while plagiarism requires a more specific kind of copying.
