That being said, 'fake it 'til you make it' is also not new as the scammer's motto. We saw this shit spike hard in the 80s. Beef season 2 even promotes it as the only way to get ahead in today's world. It's practically a timeless concept if you are 50 years old or younger, and all that's changed is how it's done not that it's done at all.

People scammed from the very start, famous figures like Thomas Edison did as a patent office worker, but the difference now is the scale of profit vs loss. We've never seen a class divide go so hard, the low end of the Upper Class are the only one who can afford to live Middle Class now. 

If we go even farther back, when there was even less regulation, it must have been even worse, but business has always been on the backs of charismatic pretenders. When it's between five people selling the same product, you will pick the one that left an impression.

He is known for repeatedly testing filaments for lightbulbs until he got one which worked and is quoted for 90% perspiration, 10% inspiration. Where is the scam in that?
