Let me put it this way. 

One can't shine without some negativity lurking around. 

Here's an example. 

Say you put out a game, or a record. Something digital. 

If it's great. You will be pirated. People will copy share, redistribute whatever you put out. You're still getting rich, but, you're also losing some money since some people will obtain your work for free.

It's okay.

If you put out media. And no one is pirating you. You're not doing very well.

So you had a nice day at the pride parade, and while Millie was at the bus stop, someone said something offensive and they got away with it. 

It's fine. If it wasn't such a good day that event wouldn't have happened. Maybe some local was annoyed with the parade or whatever. Maybe they hate the LGBTQ. I personally am not a fan of segregation groups but I don't see the appeal in dragging people down when they're having fun. 

Still, there's that law, where all things always come with a polarity. A little bit of bad always comes with the good and vice versa. The greater good is what mattered that day. Expect bullshit to happen and when it does, just say, there it is. 

If the offender, whatever it is they said, was having fun, they would be delighted to see how pissed off you are. You'll be stubborn and without their knowing they've managed to exploit you. The more you feed into it, the more you'll lose. 

I have a family member whos sensitive like that. She'll lose her shit if someone says nigger, and will throw tantrums at the whole black people being victims thing. She refuses to believe black people kill black people the most. Sure someone will eventually trigger her, but in this regard, she's her own worst enemy, and so are you. And why ? Because the world can be mean, and it will be at some point. A situation like yours is a lose-lose, accept it and next time shit happens it'll roll off of you and life remains as it does now.
