Hanging.
The people I knew who hung themselves, they probably never had their hands tied behind their back. They suspend the rope so they can't touch the ground and kick the chair they were standing on away. Since their hands aren't tied they most likely grab onto the rope like doing a chin up so fear and regret might set it. It's a struggle to hang on until the body is too exhausted to keep it up and the body's weight gets transferred to the head gradually as the arms get weaker.
Hanging most likely isn't quick either. I heard when they hung Saddam Hussein he died instantly of a snapped neck. That's a little more than a hanging cause the device used to hang him had a trap door so he would fall and his body weight would instantly tug and break his neck.
The first person I met who hung themselves was some older guy who was in love with my friend's Mother. He was a tubby biker dude. He couldn't have her, but they were friends I suppose. He hung himself in her closet.
2nd hanging I can think of was a teenage girl. She made youtube videos about reasons why not to commit suicide. Then came Prom Night. She was set to go with handsome young man. Then he switched up on her and went to the prom with someone else, so she hung herself.
3rd hanging. I think it's been 2 years now. Hung himself in a hotel room. He was always a dick, banged a lot of chicks, was a bad boy. Hated lazy people. Actually there's a treehouse in the backyard here, he built that for his daughter. In his last days he got really fat and had a hard time standing, his knees would give out. He probably lost his mojo with the ladies and became the very person he hated.
1 guy I know attempted suicide. Involves the same friend's Mother. The Father in law and Father of friend's sister. They kinda broke up, so he started renting a small house across the yard. It's kinda romantic. He shot himself in the head with a small gun. Maybe I was 15 or 16. I remember Friend's Mother was balling, while my buddy and I had to chase the Dobermans until we caught them, bring them to the other house, and we hid his little sister who had no idea what the hell is going on. His family is kinda mafia/biker/lowkey type, so we never wanted the child to be seen by the police, meanwhile we're freaking out thinking his Father in law died. On the bright side they got back together real quick when he was out of the hospital. After that event, the first guy hung himself in the closet.

I know of other cases usually has to do with heartbreak. Hanging, and bridges seem to be the most common, trains too from what I gather. Others will threaten suicide to manipulate or actually do it as their wildcard to hurt someone. Yes there are people so dedicated to hurting others they will self harm.
When I say I don't respect weakness it's things like this. It deserves no respect, nor remorse. It's not healthy feeling for people who killed themselves. Nope. Don't supply that demon. The opposite would be people who adapt and heal, that's respectable.
