Oceans are a lot filthier.
come at me bro
Challenge Accepted.
Lakes are better than ponds.
The oceans are simply more majestic and mysterious. Bigger and more terrifying.
While it's worse to be lost at sea, being lost in a lake can still fuck you up, though you won't ever go thirsty, as sea water is acidic.
In Australia, I see you rely on a reverse osmosis process to convert sea water into fresh water. Not cheap to do but there's no real choice is there. I imagine if the shit hit the fan Australians would be in a world of dry, where people would kill for a bottle of water.
In Canada we have over 2 million lakes, which is 10% of the world's freshwater supply. There's more fresh water here than anywhere else.
While you're conditioned to take pride in your drinking water and praise the almighty ocean, it would be a damn shame if Canada had to start converting sea water to fresh water for millions of people every, single, day.

I remember back in the Nabble forum everyone was making fun of me over saying there's such things as machines that can produce fresh water from the air. I'd be like, well what do you think a dehumidifier is doing ?
Now these machines are on the market.
So... should I take this as accepting that I won the argument this quickly?
Come on dude, return to the argument. We're fighting about law vs chaos, and oceans vs lakes. Stick to the topic.

I mean the bacteria could kill you. Even running rivers and waterfalls can have dangerous bacteria.

Chaos isn't even real.
Oceans are awesome, lakes are too sedate for my tastes. The ocean has moods and depths and dangers we still haven't fully explored. Sunken civilisations, monstrous gigantic creatures that can swallow a man whole. Heavy metals and sewage. Lakes don't even come close!
Actually, oceans have lakes of their own.

Chances are. Yes.
If your stranded out in a lake. ( I don't even see this as a probability btw ) You're going for a nice cool drink and will most likely survive. We can only go 3 days without water.
