People often feel wronged by something in some way or another, falling into a pattern of blaming others. In order to have Ethics, we must have a consensus among basic things and upon breaking from consensus, the best course of action is what has worked previously to maintain society's balance.

Read Henry Sidgwick's The Methods of Ethics, if you're genuinely curious.
