How fucking awesome is this? There will be books and movies. 9:30 in the morning while people are lined up at the entrance to get in these guys are climbing through a window upstairs, and making off with countless hundreds of millions of dollars in loot.

The diamond would have been nearly impossible to liquidate.

The rest will be dismantled while the precious metals will be melted down and sold. It'll be worth much less in its raw form. It doesn't seem a gold bar out of it.

This happened to a late friend of mine. Her Jewlery store was robbed twice. The 2nd time they cut through the roof of the plaza. Went straight to the safe and cut it open with a grinder.

I went with her at 3AM. The safe had a layer on concrete so the whole room was covered in powder concrete with debris floating in the air.

The CCTV device was right ontop the safe. It too was covered which is probably why they never found it.

I extracted the footage. For 2 hours we can hear them grinding away with a powertool, probably a grinder. We can also hear 2 voices speaking Romanian. Finally the ceiling collapsed. 10 minutes later a scrawny man dressed on black, with a black hood and a disposable mask appeared. He had a long nose. He jumped up on a desk to tilt the cam away. I edited the footage, took screenshots and made closeups. His eyes and nose were enough.

They made off with $700,000 worth of jewelry. The cameras outside picked up 3 guys. Footage from a neighboring area also captured them and the investigator says they got a car and it's plate.

High drama in your day to day, it seems. You must have felt some excitement as you looked at that cam footage and realised how good it was.

Seems a shame that the precious metals from the Louvre jewels will be melted down and they will be lost. That kind of flashy bling looks ugly to me but I appreciate the historical and cultural value which also can't be replaced. Maybe they have private collectors that would take some of the exceptional items. There are plenty of mega rich who like to impress each other with their forbidden treasures.

Yes they'll have to destroy them or risk getting caught. Like a movie, those crown jewels have a curse, for whoever posesses them will be in a world of shit.

I'll be home on Wednesday. Though, I was advised not to show anyone the footage or imagery I took, but this guy looked like the typical stereotype of what he should look like. Long terrorist beak nose. The closeup I got before he flipped the security camera, his eyes seemed guilty. Kinda like a sad puppy.

Just looking at I know I'd take him out without any resistance. Definitely the small one. He made quite a mess.

You know, you don't really read a story like this very often.  A little ashamed to say, but I'm kind of glad it happened to the French.  Doesn't it seem sort of quaint -- maybe a little silly -- with everything else happening in the world right now?

I'm surprised by this, but it's been a very long time. I can't make sense of why you're saying this here.

It does. And the focus on such a grotesque display of wealth that does nothing but create a spectacle that's maybe supposed to keep them from remembering how little they actually have compared to the unfathomable riches before them. A touch of schadenfreude!

 Grammatical error.

I'm just talking about a burglar.

I know you are talking about the burglar. It's what you're saying about the burglar that is disturbing.

2 men arrested, while some others are at large.

Still trying to recover some jewelry said to be worth 102 million not including its historical value.
