It varies from person to person for how much it's enjoyed vs financial, and for how dark vs wholesome their start in it was.

It depends why you watch it, to some it's more like art than it is spank bank storage. It's also the closest thing a lot of people have to sexual education and general understanding of the naked human form, for both the good and ill of that being the case. 

There's some really weird ones out there when they try to actually have it be about plot. In Pirates XXX the majority of the film is about the characters, and you can even fast forward through all the sex scenes and still end up with a fairly long plot. 

Edit: Found a Youtube edit of it where all the porn is cut out of it. In general there's a surprising number of uploads like this on Youtube for if you don't want to see the sex scenes and simply watch it for the plot.

I saw some clip talking about an Only Fans model. Some Brunette girl, made 82 million dollars last year, and that's not including the previous years and this year so far. 

I imagine a female porn star can potentially make more on onlyfans considering they have more public exposure. But they still make porn videos, which is said to pay around 6k per shoot, though it probably depends on who you're dealing with. A business minded female porn star would know how it's worth making the videos which eventually go online for free as a way to build their fanbase.
