when it comes to art, any publicity is good publicity
"I can pay you with exposure"
Its valuable to established artists I suppose that dont have a need for money but if you're trying to feed yourself exposure does nothing. More often than not the ones that pay with exposure just want free art. It's like the Instagram influencers that try to get free product or meals from places and then say they'll pay with exposure.

but that exposure ultimately does profit the companies. yes I understand its not immediate money or even 100 percent for sure money at all in the future im just explaining why med doesnt care about getting money from them. it also feels good to artists for their art to be liked and used:)

Exposure is really good though. You should consider the client's audience before deciding to work for free or not. Even I do some work for free in my domain, just because the exposure it gets me gets me more paid deals.
Edit: Working for some no-name nigger is a no-go for exposure, but if you are to work for a well-known brand, that in itself brings you more lucrative work.
